about me

Hi!  I’m Nickolee and I’m so glad you have stopped by my blog!

I was born and raised in Mississippi and met the guy that I had always dreamed about my sophomore year of college.  We both graduated from Mississippi College and knew the Lord was leading us to work overseas as church planters.  During the process of preparing to go overseas and once there, the Lord gave Steve and I the awesome opportunity to raise our two beautiful girls – Ryleigh & Lyllian.   We lived in Madagascar for 3 1/2 years and upon our return to the States (for what we thought was simply a 6 month furlough) I was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis.  Though this diagnosis was a surprise to us we have complete confidence and peace that it is a part of our Savior’s plan.  In July 2015, the diagnosis was lifted but another one has yet to fill it’s place.  Through this journey, the Lord led us to Meridian (my hometown) where Steve is now the Associate Pastor of Missions & Discipleship at a local church and I am teaching kindergarten.

I really enjoy writing and while you will see some posts in regards to family life – my passion is writing posts that help me understand what God is teaching me.  There’s something about seeing my thoughts form into actual words on a screen that help me have clarity.

I also love sharing with others about what He has done and is doing! Whether it’s a missions emphasis, women’s conference, or something in between – I’d be honored to come and share with your group!  Please contact me @ graceandchocolatemilk@gmail(dot)com

I look forward to hearing from you!

He has been beyond faithful in growing & teaching me no matter where I am living or what I am doing.  I firmly believe that we should all be lifelong learners and I’m so grateful for a Savior who is such a gracious teacher!

    Nickolee:

My name is Ron Mumbower. I had heard about you and Steve and your family from various people and I am so sorry for just now getting in touch with you. I was on staff at FBC Jackson, MS for 31 years as their counseling pastor. My first wife, Karen, was diagnosed with MS in the fall of 2003. By Jan of 04 the lesions moved down her spine and she was paralyzed from the waist down. She was diagnosed with primary progressive MS. She passed awy from a blood clot in Dec. of 04. I have been a board member of the MS Society for the past 10 years. This past Jan I cam on staff with the MS Society, AL/Miss Chapter as their Engagement Coordinator.

Patrician Hasselman, in Clinton, where we live and a very good friend of ours told us about you all and your walk with MS. then, my present wife, Kathy and I just got back from doing the Marriage Retreat with our colleagues at Warm Baths, South Africa last month. Todd and Deborah hoskins told us more of your story and gave us this address.

I am coming through Meridian on Thurs of this week and would like to touch base with you all if at all possible. My email address is ronmumbower@gmail.com or my cell is 601-613-9564. I know this is lat notice and if Thurs late in the afternoon or early evening is not good for you all i certainly understand.

Also there is a Self-help Group for MS there in Meridian. The leader is Cindy Henderson. her contact information is isuzumoon@yahoo.com They usually meet on the 1st Sat of the month at 1;30 at Jeff Anderson hospital.

If I can get you any information or you all need anything please do not hesitate to contact me. We had such a great time with your colleagues from Mada and I look forward meeting you both and your children.

    Searching for a cure,

    Ron Mumbower
